Today is a day to remember and give thanks to all the heroes who fought for the freedoms we now enjoy in America. In fact, if you take the time to go to the TCM channel on your TV, you’ll find many a war movie and the stars who appeared in those films. Whether it was a drama or the many musicals, I think your heart and mind will respond to the history that shaped our world.

Songwriters like Irving Berlin (“God Bless America”), Don Raye/Hughie Prince (Andrew Sisters “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”), and so many others covered the war landscape with music.

There are numerous films that were turned out during wartimes: Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo, Sergeant York, The Story of G.I. Joe, They Were Expendable . . . and many more modern more recent depictions of the horrors of war made by Spielberg, Coppola, Christopher Nolan – – –

Thanks to all those who gave their lives so that we can live free.
