American Popular Song Society 3d Annual Gala – Sutton Foster Returns in Once Upon a Mattress – Maybe Happy Ending with Darren Criss – Domenica Feraud’s ‘someone spectacular’ at Pershing Square Signature Theaters – Home/Roundabout Theatre


Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Darren Criss (American Buffalo, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), also. Making his Broadway producing debut, will return to the stage alongside Helen J Shen (The Lonely Few, Teeth) in the Broadway premiere of the new musical Maybe Happy Ending.

Maybe Happy Ending will begin previews on Wednesday, September 18, at the Belasco Theatre, with an opening night on Thursday, October 17. With music by Will Aronson, lyrics by Hue Park and book by both Aronson and Park, Maybe Happy Ending will be directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Arden (Parade, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Once on this Island).  Maybe Happy Ending will also feature Dez Duron (NBC’s The Voice) who makes his Broadway debut along with Shen.

Sutton Foster will continue in Once Upon a Mattress in a Broadway run at the Hudson Theatre. The production, a new adaptation by Amy Sherman-Palladino that debuted in a two-week engagement co-starring Michael Urie at New York City Center’s Encores in Januar is directed by Lear deBessonet, with choreography by Lorin Lotarro, and will begin previews at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre on July 31, with an opening night set for August 12.

Following the close of the Broadway run on November 30, Mattress will play a four-week engagement at Center Theatre Groups’ Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles beginning December 10.

someone spectacular, the world premiere of a new play by Domenica Feraud, will open July 31 at The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center. The production, directed by Tatiana Pandiani, will begin previews on July 17.

Monday, June 17, 2024 will be the American Popular Song Society 3rd Annual Gala Benefit. It will honor the award winning Richard Maltby, Jr.  and David Shire with a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Cutting Room, 44 East 32nd Street NYC.   The event begins at 5:30 pm with a festive Cocktail – Hors d’oeuvres Reception, then at 7:00 pm a Spectacular show. Michael Lavine is the  Director/Music Director/Host for this wonderful special event.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, President/CEO, in memoriam; Scott Ellis, Interim Artistic Director) is pleased to present the new production of Home by Samm-Art Williams, who passed away on May 13, 2024. Not seen on Broadway in more than 40 years, Home is directed by Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon (Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch, A Raisin in the Sun, A Soldier’s Play). Previews begin on Friday, May 17 ahead of the official opening on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The production will play through July 21, 2024 at the Todd Haimes Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street). The cast features Tory Kittles as “Cephus Miles,” Brittany Inge as “Woman One / Pattie Mae Wells,”and Stori Ayers as “Woman Two”—all in their Roundabout Theatre Company debuts.
