On June 27th, members of the press were invited to attend a luncheon at Feinstein’s/54 Below celebrating Chef Lynn Bound’s “Broadway Beets” sandwich featured as part of Amy’s Bread’s popular Chef Sandwiches of Good charity program during these (literally) dog days of summer. A portion of the proceeds from each sandwich will benefit Broadway Barks, the annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event created by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore and produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
The lunch was delicious, but the piece de resistance were the special guests, Tony Awards-winning animal trainer Bill Berloni together with the Humane Society of New York personnel and doggies for adoption. And, Mickey ( a 7 year old Pomeranian) and Francoise ( a 4 month old Poodle) were perfect guests. Bill also introduced the latest tail wagger who is training for the role of Toto in the upcoming Broadway bound Wizard of Oz the Musical, with new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The Chef – brilliant in her creations, the furry friends more than adorable.
So many dogs and cats that need our help! Take the time to go to HumaneSocietyNY.org to donate. They need as many of us animal lovers as they can get!
