Set to air on Monday, September 9th at 7:30 pm on HBO is the two-time Emmy nominated program Wynton Marsalis: A YoungArts MasterClass.

A special preview was offered to the press at the Museum of Modern Art (Celeste Bartos Theater) on Sept. 3rd where the next generation of young musicians, along with celebrities and performers, gathered to see a screening of this third season of documentaries, by Kirk Simon and Karen Goodman filmmakers.

This represents the greatest give back a fine musician and teacher like Wynton Marsalis can offer to subsequent generations and to the world of music. What else have we that binds us more than our love for music?

Renee Fleming was one of the featured artists in season two, while season one featured artists such as Edward Albee, Liv Ullman and Placido Domingo.

After the screening, there was a short talk-back and Q&A with Wynton Marsalis followed by a jam session with student musicians featured in the documentary: Patrick Bartley on sax, Russell Hall on bass and Antonio Madruga on piano.

If this is any indication of the future of American music, then there’s lots to look forward to because it will be around for generations to come!
