Today’s the day when the much anticipated 76th Annual Tony Awards will take place – June 11, 2023. After bouncing back and forth as to whether they would actually happen as a potential writers strike loomed large, the ceremony will be held at the uptown New York City venue United Palace, marking the first time the awards have been presented at this theater. Located in Washington Heights, the Palace is the fourth-largest performance venue in Manhattan with a capacity of 3,400 seats
Ariana DeBose will return to host the 2023 Tony Awards, and Julianne Hough and Skylar Astin will host the Tony Awards pre-show. The exclusive pre-show, which will include the presentation of several awards, and will be available to stream on Pluto TV from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
Performances announced include the companies of Best Musical nominees: & Juliet, Kimberly Akimbo, New York, New York, Shucked and Some Like It Hot during the broadcast on CBS and Paramount+. Performances are also scheduled from the casts of Camelot, Into The Woods, Parade and Sweeney Todd — all nominated for Best Revival. Additionally, Joaquina Kalukango, the 2022 winner for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, as well as the cast of Funny Girl will perform. Scheduled to take the stage is also the cast of A Beautiful Noise.
In addition, there will also be a special presentation in honor of Joel Grey and John Kander, the recipients of this year’s Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre Award. … The Tony Awards will air … from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET live on CBS and Paramount+.
