Tina Brown, Candice Bergen, Helen Mirren, Diane von Furstenberg and many others were on hand Thursday afternoon at Barbetta to celebrate Stephen Daldry, Tony nominated director for Skylight. Daldry, who also directed this year’s The Audience (starring Helen Mirren), has previously won Tony Awards for Best Direction for Billy Elliot: The Musical (2009), An Inspector Calls (1994), and his films accumulated 19 Academy Award nominations and two wins for his films, Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Friends and colleagues in attendance at the luncheon toasted Mr. Daldry and were treated to a talk about his life and career.
Tina Brown, the event’s host (along with Diane von Furstenberg and Pamela Thomas-Graham), is the former editor-in-chief of The New Yorker, Tatler, Talk and Vanity Fair. She recently launched and edited the digital news site The Daily Beast with Barry Diller’s IAC. Presently she is founder and CEO of Women in the World Media, LLC and Tina Brown Live Media.
