There’s gold in the hills of New York City Center!
Well, to be precise, there will be scores of good-looking gold miners on the New York City Center stage – in the personage of such actors as Keith Carradine, Justin Guarini, and Nathaniel Hackmann – when Encores! presents Frederick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner’s 1951 musical “Paint Your Wagon,” March 18-22. The production will be directed by Marc Bruni, with music direction by Rob Berman, and choreographer Denis Jones.
The show’s main story focuses on the widowed prospector Ben Rumson (played by Carradine) whose daughter Jennifer (Alexandra Socha) falls in love with a young Mexican miner (Guarini). Among the musical’s best-known songs are “They Call The Wind Maria,” “I Talk to the Trees,” “Another Autumn” and “I Still See Elisa.”
Here’s a sneak peek at the press previews.
