Two sparks of musical magic ignited at the overflowing capacity house at the Iridium Jazz Club on November 6th – the legendary and Marvelous Marilyn Maye and the iconic guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli. Both are alumni of the Johnny Carson Show. And credit must be given where due- this pairing was the brainchild of manager Scott Barbarino (Scobar Entertainment) and what a pairing this was!
Ms. Maye is the ultimate interpreter of a lyric as she swings, scats and bores deeply into the heart and soul of her audience in her inimitable cool, jazzy style. Mr. Pizzarelli has recorded and performed with the Who’s Who of musicians and vocalists in a long stellar career.
And it was a continuing birthday celebration for the one and only Julie Wilson as we all gathered for another remarkable night of music that feeds the soul.
