Just say the name – Marilyn Maye – and most people snap to attention “What? Where? When? Reprising her sold out engagement at 54 Below for three shows only, the entertainer Johnny Carson called a “Super Singer,” once again overwhelmed a sold out crowd in this musical salute to Mr. Carson who featured Ms. Maye on his Tonight Show 76 times – a record.

Singing songs she sung on the Tonight Show, from 1976 thru 1979, against background video screens showing the marvelous one, Ms. Maye seems to still be in the prime of her career – she doesn’t miss a beat or a moment to envelop the audience in her loving arms and share the joy and passion of what keeps her young and thriving.

get-attachment.aspxWith Billy Stritch on piano, Tom Hubbard on bass and Ray Marchica on drums, the mantra to “Make Your Own Kind of Music” rings loud and clear. Ms. Maye is feisty, witty, her voice strong and she’s always present; and as the song she sang aptly states, there’s no doubt “I Will Survive!”

Yes, this is another evening of witnessing one of the master performers at work and, if you’re fortunate, you’ll get to see her on Fri. June 27th at 8:30 p.m. or Sat. June 28th at 8:30 p.m.
