A new comedy by Israel Horovitz (who has written 70 plays and recently enjoyed considerable acclaim in the film My Old Lady starring Dame Maggie Smith) is in the works and soon to open at the Cherry Lane Theater.
Out of the Mouths of Babes has an extraordinary cast and Theater Pizzazz’ photographer Gabrielle Meit was at a first rehearsal photo op with Estelle Parsons (Academy Award Winner Bonnie & Clyde, Tony Nominee), Angelina Fiordellisi (Zorba), Francesca Choy-Kee (Disgraced) and director/TV writer Barnet Kellman (Key Exchange, Danny & The Deep Blue Sea). Unfortunately, cast member Judith Ivey could not attend because of illness.
The comedy is about four women, of various ages, who were either married to and/or lovers of a Parisian gentleman. Summoned mysteriously to his apartment in Paris on the occasion of his death, the women spend a weekend sharing his apartment, their stories, gossip, biting comments and camaraderie—not to mention keeping company with the old man’s dead cat.
Out of the Mouths of Babes previews June 7, opens June 19 Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) www.cherrylanetheatre.org
