Fans and super fans alike turned out Monday night, July 6 for the red carpet and opening night performance of Lincoln Center Festival’s celebration of Danny Elfman’s Music from the films of Tim Burton at Avery Fisher Hall. The performance consists of a multimedia immersion of Elfman’s collaboration with noted macabre film director, Burton, with monages of film clips, sketches drawings and stoyboards edited by Burton and punctuated with Elfman’s original, completely unique and singular music, performed by a full orchestra and choir, conducted by renowned conductor John Mauceri.
Among the red carpet attendees were stars of current Broadway hits from cast members of 2015 Tony Award Winner Fun House, The King and I, Hand to God and An American in Paris; other Broadway/Hollywood boldface names in attendance were Christian Slater, Paul Haggis, Julie Taymor, Marc Shaiman, Jordan Roth, Richie Jackson and Alan Menken. Theater Pizzazz’s JK Clarke was on hand to photograph the festivities.
Fans and audience members were encouraged to come dressed as their favorite characters from the films, and they didn’t disappoint, with The Nightmare Before Christmas being best represented.
