Redwood, a new, original musical starring Tony Award-winner and multi-hyphenate performer Idina Menzel, will premiere on Broadway next year at a theater-to-be-announced, producers Eva PriceCaroline Kaplan and Loudmouth Media announced today. Written and directed by Tony Award nominee Tina Landau, with music by Kate Diaz, and lyrics by Landau and Diaz, Redwood is conceived by Landau and Menzel, with additional contributions by Menzel. The new musical created by Tina Landau, Kate Diaz and Idina Menzel will open in 2025.

Showrunner and comedian Josh Thomas makes a much-anticipated return to live stand-up in 2024 with the New York premiere of his brand-new show, Let’s Tidy Up, June 12 – 23 (opens June 14) at SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam St.) in NYC. Written with award-winning playwright Lally Katz, Let’s Tidy Up played at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Comedy Festival after a short U.S. tour at the end of 2023. HADESTOWN’S Amber Gray is joining the cast of the new musical The Royal Pyrate in the role of Mary Hallet, the fabled ‘Witch of Wellfleet,’ a figure of American myth for over 300 years. Gray joins a cast, which also includes Eric William Morris (White Girl in Danger, King Kong, Mamma Mia) as the infamous pirate Black Sam Bellamy; Eddie Cooper (Parade, Dead Outlaw) as the dread pirate Blackbeard; and Lauren Molina (Sweeney Todd, Rock of Ages) as Paulsgrave Williams. The Royal Pyratewill have a  ‘workshop tour’ that will begin at the Almanack Arts Colony on Nantucket Island on August 20and 21, before continuing on to New York City, where it will play at the Waterfront Barge Museum in Red Hook, Brooklyn August 24 and 25. Hunter Bird (Bronco Billy) will direct.

 Due to popular demand, the limited run of “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” directed by Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, has extended at PAC NYC now through Sunday, July 28, 2024. Cats: The Jellicle Ball, is a radical reimagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic dance musical Cats based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot.  www.pacnyc.org
