The New York Pops season is ready to open with a bang! Led by Music Director Steven Reineke, it will open its 33rd season at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage on October 9th at 8 pm with My Favorite Things: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The concert honors the duo’s timeless work, which has captured the hearts of every generation of music lovers, and will feature guest artists Sierra Boggess (opening on Broadway in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock, recently of It Shoulda Been You) and Downton Abbey star Julian Ovenden (replacing previously announced Steven Pasquale).
The program will feature numbers from all eleven of the collaborations between Rodgers and Hammerstein. Selections will include “A Wonderful Guy” and “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific, “The Sound of Music” from The Sound of Music, and “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’” from Oklahoma!.
