“New Show. New Stories. No F*cks.”

This marketing phrase pretty much sums up Tori Scott’s “Plan B!” at Joe’s Pub. Appearing regularly at the venue over the past five years, Tori was excited to announce the evening was being recorded for her first album. An actress, a singer, and a comedian, Tori captivated her audience for a brilliant evening of true cabaret entertainment.

Provincetown Magazine labels her “the Bette Midler of the new millennium.” Time Out New York names her one of New York City’s top ten cabaret artists. Her solo show resume is extensive, having performed at renowned venues such as 54 Below, the Laurie Beechman Theatre and the Metropolitan Room. In addition to her cabaret career, Tori’s acting credits have taken her to collaborate with the likes of Alice Ripley, Linda Lavin, Leslie Uggams, and Stephanie J Block. Tori’s team for “Plan B!” is a force to be reckoned with, including co-writer Adam Hetrick (Playbill.com), director Seth Sklar-Heyn (Miss SaigonPhantom of the Opera), and music director Jesse Kissel (The Visit, Leap of Faith).

Equally stunning singing current pop songs and show business standards, Tori is a bona fide queen of cabaret. She has the audience eating out of the palm of her hand, from the pianist’s first chord to her last big belt note of the night. How can one woman have a crowd roaring with laughter consistently, yet silence them with masterful vulnerability? Tori is just so relatable, reveling in her life’s bad decisions and championing the unexpected places they take her.

Whether she’s tackling Demi Lovato, Meghan Trainor, Kelly Clarkson, Selena Gomez, Adele, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Heart, Lionel Richie, or Judy Garland, her vocals can’t be beat. She sings in French, and she sings from “Wicked.” I mean, who can successfully mash up “Wrecking Ball” and “The Man That Got Away?” The way she laces tunes together and unabashedly sprinkles in personal stories is phenomenal. I haven’t even mentioned her five-minute medley to her vibrator, Professor Snape. C’mon…I’m not giving away any more secrets!

Point is: you would be a fool to not get yourself down to Joe’s Pub this Monday, May 22 at 9:30 pm for her closing performance. If you can’t make that show, keep your eyes out for upcoming gigs. Trust me, you’ll be seeing a lot of Tori Scott in the future.
