Benefit Series for Adoption Program

By John Weatherford

Robin Westle, cabaret singer and mother of two adopted children, has created Robin’s Nest. It is a benefit series to support Helpusadopt.org. Helpusadopt is a national non-profit financial assistance grant program providing qualified couples and individuals (regardless of race, ethnicity, marital status, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability) with grants of up to $15,000 towards their domestic, international, foster, or special needs adoption expenses.

The first benefit was held June 9, 2014 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. The evening, masterfully directed by Eric Michael Gillett, was blessed with talents of Carly Bracco, Leah Jennings, Lauren Stanford, LaTanya Hall, Eric Michael Gillett, Carolyn Montgomery-Forant, Jeff Cubeta (also serving as musical director) and Jonathan Kantor on clarinet.

The evening brought to the audience an awareness of the organization’s importance and what has been done since being founded by Becky Snyder Fawcett, Executive Director. By December of this year over a million dollars in grants will have been awarded to help create new families. It was an inspiring event and, hopefully, there will be many more to come.
