On Tuesday, May 15, the Marriott Marquis hosted the 69thAnnual Spring Luncheon to honor Tony and Academy Award Winner Denzel Washington (The Iceman Cometh), featuring tributes by Branford Marsalis, George C. Wolfe, Stephen McKinley Henderson and many more.
Many I spoke with were thrilled to be in the midst of this tribute and had much to add regarding the playwrights they love, respect and want to hear more from. A large poster of Denzel was situated in the lobby on which many of the attendees signed their names in tribute.
The New Dramatists is dedicated to the Playwright and each year salutes individuals who have made an outstanding artistic contribution to the theatre community.
