Last night, Tuesday March 8, Disaster struck Broadway .  .  . that is to say Disaster! the musical, which opened at the Nederlander Theater. The production, written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, who also directs, is a send up of 1970s and 80s kitsch catastrophe films (like The Poseidon Adventure) and features versions some of the era’s sappiest pop songs.

Disaster! stars Roger Bart, Kerry Butler, Kevin Chamberlain, Adam Pascal, Faith Prince, Rachel York, Seth Rudetsky, Jennifer Simard, Max Crumm, Baylee Littrell and Lacretta Nicole and plays at The Nederlander Theater (208 West 41st Street).

Bold-faced names on the red carpet for the opening included Tina Fey, Gloria Gaynor, Matthew Broderick, Rosie O’Donnell, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Vanessa Williams, Fran Drescher, Ana Gasteyer, Kathy Najimy, B.D. Wong, Eve Plumb, Caroline Rhea, Genevea Carr and Backstreet Boys members Brian Littrell & AJ McLean.

Theater Pizzazz’s JK Clarke was there to take it all in and capture it on camera.
