Yes, it’s a BIG DEAL celebrating cabaret and the epitome of that is the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s New York Cabaret Convention at Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, from October 9 thru 12.  It’s where you’ll see and hear the best in the business along with up and coming future stars – – from 17 to 90 they’ll all knock your socks off.

Opening night October 9th, Cabaret Today, will be hosted by Artistic Director KT Sullivan, embracing the entire spectrum of songs from classic to contemporary; October 10th – The Night and the Music – will honor legends Barbara Cook, Julie Wilson and Rosie Clooney; October 11th will focus on Jerry Herman and his unforgettable words and music in such shows as HELLO, DOLLY!, MAME, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, and MACK & MABEL;  October 12the celebrates Alan Jay Lerner whose masterful lyrics and librettos elevated MY FAIR LADY, GIGI, CAMELOT, ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER, and BRIGADOON.

 

Mabel Mercer, Donald F. Smith, and Julie Wilson Awards will be presented, as well as the first recipient honored with the new Adela & Larry Elow American Songbook High School Competition Award.
